In the early years, around 4,000 years ago, perfumes were used to cure stomach aches and such things as bleeding gums. The Egyptians were commanded to perfume themselves once a week, they would soak their skin in fragrance oil to protect it from the sun and because it gave them pleasure.

Fragrance oils are being used in our homes so that we may enjoy our favorite scent. Large corporate offices are finding that fragrances such as Lavender or vanilla give a more relaxing work environment, we are also finding that taxi services are placing cotton balls soaked with scented oils under their seats so that the customer has a more enjoyable ride. Now, when it comes to finding that signature fragrance oil for the body, don‘t forget about the stages of the perfume (the oil). Every fragrance has three stages known has the “top note“-“mid note“-base note“. The top note is the first experience or the “initial impact“. This last 5-10 minutes and is known for drawing you into the fragrance. Then comes the “bouquet‘, the mid-note also known as the heart. This scent begins to emerge after the fragrance has blended with your own unique chemistry. Give this note about 15-20 minutes to fully develop. The final note, base note, is the final expression of the fragrance after it has dried revealing how the fragrance will smell for the duration. A good perfume should be well-rounded and in harmony, never boring though. Make sure you can differentiate a good fragrance from a bad one.
